I shall not be moved

Psalm 16

v8

I have set the LORD always before me: because [he is] at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
We should always set our Love on the Lord.

20070330

don't take up a reproach

Psalm 15

v3

[He that] backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
There's a temptation to take up a reproach against certain people. We shouldn't be in the habit of going around saying bad things about people.

20070329

we need the gospel

1 Corinthians 9

v16

For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
We should realize that there's a necessity, that we have to preach the gospel.

20070328

understand and seek God

Psalm 14
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people [as] they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.
We should spend time seeking the Lord by praying.

20070327

to whom tribute is due

Romans 13

v7

Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute [is due]; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
I should remember to get my taxes done.

20070326

having a hard time

Psalm 13

v5

But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
When we're having a hard time, we should pray about it, like this Psalm.
"I have trusted"
Yesterday morning one of my friends talked about how we should trust the Lord through hard times.
"my heart shall rejoice"
Later yesterday, somebody encouraged me that a way to decide to rejoice even when we're sad, is to sing and praise the Lord. v6 says, "I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me."
"rejoice in thy salvation"
Praise the Lord, I got to see the Lord's salvation of somebody yesterday afternoon.

20070324

be righteous, not wicked

Psalm 11

v6

Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: [this shall be] the portion of their cup.
God gives serious judgment to people who are wicked. We should fear God and make sure we're righteous instead.

20070323

mouth full of cursing

Psalm 10

v7

His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue [is] mischief and vanity.
Wicked people's mouths are full of cursing. We shouldn't curse.

20070322

all His marvelous works

Psalm 9

v1

I will praise [thee], O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
We know that the Lord has done too many marvelous things for us to tell people. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

We should try to tell people about as many of the marvelous things the Lord has done, as we can.

20070321

knowledge vs. charity

1 Corinthians 8

v9

But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
We shouldn't do things just because we can, or just because we know something somebody else doesn't know. We should consider other people's consciences, and how they could follow our example.

We should be willing to give up privileges to Love others.

20070320

abhor that which is evil

Romans 12

v9

[Let] love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
It says, "Abhor that which is evil". We should hate and detest sin.

20070319

all that the LORD commanded

Exodus 40

v16

Thus did Moses: according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he.
There are some things that we know for sure that the Lord has clearly commanded for us to do (or not do.)

We should follow those things.

20070318

as the LORD had commanded

Exodus 39

v43

And Moses did look upon all the work, and, behold, they had done it as the LORD had commanded, even so had they done it: and Moses blessed them.
We should do all the work that the Lord says to do, the way He says to do it.

20070317

everything for the Lord

Exodus 38

v4

And he made for the altar a brasen grate of network under the compass thereof beneath unto the midst of it.
I noticed that this translation of the Bible uses the words "network" and "socket" in this chapter. I've been studying computer networks and sockets lately.

Whatever we do, we should do it for the Lord.

20070316

a lot of hard work

Exodus 37

v1

And Bezaleel made the ark [of] shittim wood: two cubits and a half [was] the length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it, and a cubit and a half the height of it:
This guy Bezaleel did a lot of hard work in this chapter.

I should work hard on the things I have to do.

20070315

work for the Lord

Exodus 36

v1

Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the LORD had commanded.
We should work for the Lord, doing all the work He says to do, like preaching the gospel and building up the Lord's people.

20070314

be serious about prayer

1 Corinthians 7

v5

Defraud ye not one the other, except [it be] with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
It says, "that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer". We should be serious about prayer.

20070313

be not highminded, but fear

Romans 11

v20

Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
Some Jews aren't right with the Lord, but we shouldn't respond to that by thinking we're better than them. Instead, we should be afraid to make the same mistake.

We should pay attention to having faith in Jesus.

20070312

an offering of the LORD

Exodus 35

v5

Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD: whosoever [is] of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the LORD; gold, and silver, and brass,
We should have willing hearts to bring and offer the best we have to the Lord.

20070311

early in the morning

Exodus 34

v4

And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.
We should have time with the Lord "early in the morning".

20070310

speaking face to face

Exodus 33

v11

And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
We should take advantage of the great opportunity we have, as believers, to pray.

20070309

God's servant Loves God's people

Exodus 32

v11

And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?
Moses prayed for Israel even when they had been wicked. Moses was a picture of Jesus, because Jesus was God's servant, and He Loved God's people.

We should follow Jesus' example. Even when other people sin, we should Love them and pray for them. The Lord will answer our prayers in amazing ways, and do great things, like He did back in Exodus.

20070308

wisdom for the Lord's work

Exodus 31

v6

And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee;
Last night, one of my friends was talking about Exodus. It struck me that when we have talents, we need to use them for the Lord's work, and to build up the Lord's people. I should be faithful with my work and school.

20070307

how excellent Your name is

Psalm 8

v1

O LORD our Lord, how excellent [is] thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
We should praise the Lord out loud like this.

20070306

my heart's desire is...

Romans 10

v1

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
What is your heart's desire? What is your prayer to God for people?

Here's what it should be: "that they might be saved".

20070305

pray every morning

Exodus 30

v7

And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it.
Incense makes me think of prayer. We should pray every morning.

20070304

Jesus shed His blood for us

Exodus 29

v16

And thou shalt slay the ram, and thou shalt take his blood, and sprinkle [it] round about upon the altar.
This chapter talks a lot about blood. Jesus was our sacrifice, and it's important to remember how He died for us.

20070303

be holy

Exodus 28

v36

And thou shalt make a plate [of] pure gold, and grave upon it, [like] the engravings of a signet, HOLINESS TO THE LORD.
We should be holy, set apart from sin, and separate to the Lord.

20070302

the things should be pure

Exodus 27

v20

And thou shalt command the children of Israel,
that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light,
to cause the lamp to burn always.
It says, "...bring thee pure oil olive...".

The thoughts, words, and deeds we bring the Lord should be pure.

20070301

be together

Exodus 26

v3

The five curtains shall be coupled together one to another; and [other] five curtains [shall be] coupled one to another.
Whether the parts of the tent were attached, coupled, in sockets, in rings, covering, loops taking hold, or in whatever way, everything seemed really "together."

The tent is a picture of the Lord's people. We should take opportunities to fellowship with each other.
