don't brag

Romans 2

v23

Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?

We shouldn't boast, like bragging about how we keep some of God's law.

v16

In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

We should be truly doing what's right, even in secret, not just looking like we're doing what's right on the outside.

v29

But he [is] a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision [is that] of the heart, in the spirit, [and] not in the letter; whose praise [is] not of men, but of God.

We should be looking for God's approval, not looking for other people to say good things about us. Let's truly do what's right, and not brag or look for other people's approval.

From: There’s Not a Friend Like the Lowly Jesus

By Johnson Oatman, 1895 and George Hugg
No friend like Him is so high and holy,
No, not one! No, not one!
And yet no friend is so meek and lowly,
No, not one! No, not one!

Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one! No, not one!
