remember Jerusalem

Psalm 137

v5

If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget [her cunning].

The Lord's nation and house were symbols of us, His people. This Psalm talks about remembering Jerusalem, and Jerusalem makes me think of the Lord's people. Even when we have a hard time, we should remember the Lord and His people, and not forget.

His ever-enduring mercy

Psalm 136

v1

O give thanks unto the LORD; for [he is] good: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.

Here's a way we can rejoice in the Lord. We can give Him thanks because of His mercy, which endures forever. He has given me great enduring mercy in my life by continuing to forgive really bad sins.

The rest of this Psalm continues to give reasons to rejoice in the Lord and thank Him, bringing up examples of His ever-enduring mercy. We can even thank Him for the great things He did in Bible times, because, even though it was long ago, it's still true and relevant.

Job 17

v2

[Are there] not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?

There were mockers provoking Job. This reminds me of the part of Psalm 1:1 that teaches that we shouldn't sit "in the seat of the scornful."

Application

My application from this chapter is to not mock people.

rejoice in the Lord

Philippians 3

Key v1

Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed [is] not grievous, but for you [it is] safe.

I've been wanting joy lately, and this verse says to "rejoice in the Lord". Rejoice? How can I rejoice? :-) In the Lord, that's how.

Application

My application from this chapter is to request prayer that I would have joy.

bless ye the LORD

Psalm 134

v1

Behold, bless ye the LORD, all [ye] servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD.

This would be a good day to work on blessing the Lord. The Lord has blessed us, and we should sing blessings to Him. We can bless the Lord at times like early in the morning, before everybody else is up. That's like at night. We can stand and lift up our hands. We can also sing blessings to Him in meetings with His people, because that's in the house of the Lord.
