We should be diligent to listen and do what the Lord convicts us of, even if we don't feel like it. If we don't listen, we'll lose our opportunity. If we do listen, He will give us more opportunities.

It is an encouragement that Jesus was tempted all of the same ways we are. So, when we are tempted we can come to Him to find help and He cares and understands.

Application

When I'm tempted I'll pray for the Lord's help, remembering how He was tempted in all of the same ways that we are.

What things do we wait for, and hope for? That's a good question to ask ourselves. The things of this human life are temporary, and at best, vanity. We need to make sure that our hope is in the Lord.

Application

I'll ask myself what my hope is in, to make sure that the Lord is what I'm waiting for.

We don't merely need to abstain from loving evil. More than that: even, if we do not abhor evil, that is a characteristic of the wicked.

Application

v8

They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

We shouldn't deceive ourselves to think that there is something desirable about wickedness. When I'm tempted, I'll remind myself that the abundant satisfaction and the river of pleasures are from the Lord and trusting in Him.

Psalm 30 - Key

v12

To the end that [my] glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

...and not be silent... Praising the Lord in my heart is fine, at times; but, there needs to be times when I am bold to sing praises to the Lord, out loud.

Application

We have the rare privilege where anybody can request hymns of praise for us to sing, in our worship meetings; so, I'll take better advantage of that.

The LORD [is] my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Like the Psalmist, we should have a plan to praise the Lord, when the Lord helps us.

I'll sing songs of praise to the Lord during my commute to work.
