imagining all day long

Psalm 38

v12

They also that seek after my life lay snares [for me]: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
When we imagine things we shouldn't, we end up saying things we shouldn't. What do you imagine all day long?

We shouldn't imagine deceits.

20070429

delight yourself in the LORD

Psalm 37

v4

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
We need to delight in the Lord.

We should trust in Him.

20070428

abhor evil

Psalm 36

v4

He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way [that is] not good; he abhorreth not evil.
When we need something to hate, we shouldn't hate other people or our situation. We should hate the sin in our own lives.

20070427

Let the LORD be magnified

Psalm 35

v27

Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
This verse says, "...let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified...". That's why I'm in the habit of writing, "Let the Lord be magnified." on things I write.

20070426

charity is not easily provoked

1 Corinthians 13

v5

Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
If we have charity, we won't be provoked easily.

Application

I've been having a problem getting angry at people lately, and I should remember this verse. I'll work on being not easily provoked.

20070425

keep your tongue from evil

Psalm 34

v13

Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
Different times throughout today I should think about keeping myself from saying evil things.

20070424

the eye of the LORD

Psalm 33

v18

Behold, the eye of the LORD [is] upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
We should fear the Lord and hope in His mercy. It's a great promise that His eye will be on us.

20070423

in the floods of great waters

Psalm 32

v6

For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
"The floods of great waters" makes me think of having a hard time. When we're having a hard time, that's the time to pray to the Lord.

It says, "in a time when thou mayest be found". We should pray to the Lord when we have a chance, instead of putting it off.

20070422

nevertheless, You heard

Psalm 31

v22

For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.
If we feel like we're not getting through to the Lord, we should still cry to Him, because He has great goodness "laid up for them that fear" Him.

20070421

joy comes in the morning

Psalm 30

v5

For his anger [endureth but] a moment; in his favour [is] life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy [cometh] in the morning.

v11

Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
We should sing to the Lord and give Him thanks, because even when we're unhappy for a time, we have a great hope in Him.

20070420

worship the LORD

Psalm 29

v2

Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
When we do things like singing, praying, and reading Psalms in worship meetings, we should focus on really worshiping the Lord and giving Him glory with those things.

20070419

have a time of prayer

Psalm 28

v6

Blessed [be] the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
This Psalm talks a lot about crying to the Lord. There's a prayer meeting I usually go to that we're not having this time. I should have a time of prayer anyway.

20070418

all suffer or rejoice together

1 Corinthians 12

v26

And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
I shouldn't think selfishly.

20070417

labor much in the Lord

Romans 16

v6

Greet Mary, who bestowed much labour on us.
We should labor very much in the Lord. We should be diligent with the work we have to do.

20070416

cry with your voice

Psalm 27

v7

Hear, O LORD, [when] I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
A way to wait on the Lord and seek him is to cry with your voice.

20070415

I have trusted

Psalm 26

v1

Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; [therefore] I shall not slide.
Today, we should think about how we should be trusting in the Lord.

20070414

him shall He teach

Psalm 25

v12

What man [is] he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way [that] he shall choose.
I want the Lord to teach me, so I should fear the Lord.

20070412

let a man examine himself

1 Corinthians 11

Outline

v1-16
head coverings
v17-34
the bread and cup of remembrance

Key

v28
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of [that] bread, and drink of [that] cup.

Application

When I take the bread and cup, I'll consider to make sure I'm right with the Lord.

20070411

have a pure heart

Psalm 24

v4

He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
If we want to receive a blessing from the Lord, we should have a pure heart.

20070410

Believe the Lord

Romans 15

v13

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
I want to be filled with all joy and peace, and to abound in hope, but the way to be like that is "in believing". We should work on believing the Lord.

20070409

He leads me

Psalm 23

v3

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
If we feel bad because we're not sure what to do, we should be encouraged that the Lord promised that He leads us.

20070408

forsaken for us

Psalm 22

v1

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? [why art thou so] far from helping me, [and from] the words of my roaring?
Praise the Lord that Jesus was forsaken for us.

20070407

praise the Lord

Psalm 21

v13

Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: [so] will we sing and praise thy power.
We should praise the Lord.

20070406

He will hear

Psalm 20

v6

Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.
I'm very glad to have this promise from the Lord. When I've been praying, the Lord will hear.

20070405

wealth for somebody else

1 Corinthians 10

v24

Let no man seek his own, but every man another's [wealth].
When I eat today, I'll pray for the Lord to save a certain person I know of who needs saved.

20070404

desire the Lord's Word

Psalm 19

v10

More to be desired [are they] than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
We should desire the Lord's Word.

20070403

righteousness, peace, and joy

Romans 14

Key

v17
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost
These are 3 things I really want in my life:
  1. righteousness
  2. peace
  3. joy

Application

v18
For he that in these things serveth Christ [is] acceptable to God, and approved of men.
I'll remember what these 3 things are, and to serve Christ in these things.

20070402

I will call upon the LORD

Psalm 18

v3

I will call upon the LORD, [who is worthy] to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
Even if it seems like the Lord doesn't hear me, He does, and I should keep praying.

20070401

don't pray fake

Psalm 17

v1

Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, [that goeth] not out of feigned lips.
We should think about what we pray, and make sure it's not fake.
