don't say it's vain

Malachi 3

v14

Ye have said, It [is] vain to serve God: and what profit [is it] that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?

Sometimes I feel like I've been making a lot of effort to serve the Lord, and it hasn't done any good. But have I really been doing what the Lord wants in the first place?

The Lord wants me to delight in Him in my heart, and to go away from sinning against Him. The real reason things haven't been going the way I'd like, isn't because the Lord is unfaithful. It's because of my own unfaithfulness.

We shouldn't consider it vain to serve the Lord or unprofitable to walk with Him. We should believe that He's real, and diligently seek Him, believing that He will reward us for it.

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
