v8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
It is striking that one category of these sinners is the fearful.
We should make sure to not be fearful. I think that being fearful comes from being unbelieving.
Application
Philippians 1:28And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.
I've been going through Philippians in my personal time with the Lord. Here is my paraphrase of this verse (not what the verse said, by what I think about it:)
Don't be terrified about anything by your enemies. If you are not, then that is an obvious sign to them that they are headed for destruction; but to you it is an obvious sign that you are headed for salvation--and that is salvation of God.
When I encounter troubles and spiritual enemies, instead of being fearful, I'll remember and trust in the Lord.
