don't oppress the poor

Amos 4

v1

Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that [are] in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.

We shouldn't oppress poor and needy people, but we should be generous to them.

  2. I know this might not seem to be very much about oppression, bit here's an example of being generous. One shouldn't think:

"My budget is hurting because of the economy and personal expenses...
So, even though I could give more by sacrificing my own comfort,
I'll only give a very little bit money to the collection for the Lord's people in need."
