seek the Lord

Amos 5

v6

Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour [it], and [there be] none to quench [it] in Bethel.
(I added the emphasis.)

Amos 5 is a real call to "seek the Lord."

v24

But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

They were offering things to the Lord, but He wouldn't accept them because what He really wanted was just judgment and righteousness.

v4

For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:
It talked about how they were offering things to the Lord, like making music for Him, but they were going after their sins of idolatry at the same time.

v23

Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.

The way it talked about their idols made me think about the way I've wasted time on the Internet when I should be doing other things first. That can be an idol. We shouldn't do things like that.

v26

But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.

We should seek the Lord and His righteousness first.

Matthew 6:33a

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness...
