But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
We are supposed to earnestly covet he best gifts. They are gifts that we receive, but that does not mean that we should not work at them.
Application
2 Timothy 2:15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Preaching and teaching are gifts, but this verse also talks about the need for studying and being a workman.
...Rightly dividing the word...
makes me think of writing outlines. I'll keep working on writing outlines, in my pursuit of teaching.
