falsifying the balances by deceit

Amos 8

v5

Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

They Lord's people were looking forward to making a profit from cheating people. They were even looking forward to their time of rest being over so they could.

There's a little thing that I probably wouldn't get in trouble for. It doesn't really seem like it should be against the rules, but I just found out for sure that "I'm not supposed to."

I was praying about whether I be doing it anyway, right before I read Amos 8. I couldn't think of anything in Amos 8 that spoke to me, so I prayed that the Lord would speak to me about something out of it. Then I saw verse 5, and I remembered what I had been praying for the Lord to show me.

I should do what I'm supposed to do in light of that little thing.
