For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, [and] hating one another.
When we have a hard time forgiving somebody and thinking the right way about them, we should remember how we were in the past, that we're no better than them. Just as God, in His love and kindness, had mercy on us, we can show love, kindness, and mercy to them, despite their sin.
